Elizabeth Barr
Artist Statement After a fulfilling career as an educator, Elizabeth Barr has returned to her art practice as an emerging artist as a printmaker and painter. She paints in watercolours primarily and prints extra-long monotype works that are part of her ‘wrapped’ and ‘unwrapped’ landscapes. Some of these prints are formed into her ‘Serene Lightscapes’ suspended by floor lamp stands. Her current body of work ‘Reflections’ is based her sketching and plein air painting at the Yarra River and wetlands of Banyule. Through these varied approaches, her work reflects an ongoing engagement with place, observation, and the quiet rhythms of the natural world. Since graduating with a Diploma of Visual Arts in 2024, Elizabeth Barr has presented in group exhibitions including Holding the Line, Monsalvat 2025, Emerging Artists, Hall and Wilcox Law Firm, Melbourne, 2025 and Prelude, Australian Galleries, Collingwood 2026. Her work has been shortlisted for the Australian Monoprint Prize, Fire Station Print Studio, Armadale, 2025 and the Waverley Woollarah Art School 9 x5 Landscape prize in 2026.
